Examples of Pop Music magazines & Codes and Conventions

Each of these examples present the stereotypical codes and conventions found in a Pop Music magazine, they include:

  • Bright colours are a key convention due to the culture of the demographic being stereotypically "happy" and "up beat" therefore having the bright colours to connote this due to their significance with emotion.
  • A "posey" key image is often found on a Pop music magazine to then represent the genre and then to generate the aspirational gratification for its audience - both men and women would want elements of the artiste in their own life therefore they are more likely to want to read about them - a selling point for the magazine.
  • Interviews are commonly used in this magazine genre due to the same reason, as the last. Consumers desiring to gain information about the artiste due to their aspirational requests within the person.
  • The magazine is traditionally presented with a glossy front cover in order to gain the status being a classy text.
  • Social media links are used frequently due to the modernisation for the popular genre - the more use of the Internet has resulted in more users of the online edition rather than the hard copy meaning that links are put throughout the magazine to recognise both audiences.
